Performance at Norberg festival
At the KMH showcase at the Norberg festival last week I played a short set on the Dataton 3000 instruments (See Vintage materialities or about the Frequenz festival last year).
The Datatons are quite limited. With the five units I played with there is a total of four oscillators and one noise generator with makes it challenging to create a varied expression.
In the picture below there are sic different modules, including a digital sequencer at the top righ. Bottom right is a very inventive envelope generator that offered interesting possibilities also with only a few modules. I fiind it difficult not to think of these as an early, analog and physical version of PureData or Max where the generalized structure of the modules allows for a great variation with little initial effort.
